Positives At A Funeral

Being asked to speak at the funeral of someone brings about all kinds of emotions. The life of the person that one speaks about is really the determining factor behind those emotions. For people of faith the emotions are positive.

Today we buried a dear lady named Willodene Groves. She was 79 years old. She was baptized at Creekside when she was 77 years old. She had never been in the kingdom until that time. Having put on Jesus, she became and instant sister--filled with the Holy Spirit and saved by the blood of Jesus.

She was prayed for and thought about so much with our family at Creekside and though only a few people knew her at our church, she was no less a part of us. Because of cancer, she was never able to attend worship with us. Yet, I believe that through the following verses in the scriptures and faith in the resurrection of Jesus that one day we will see one another again. Now that's something positive to BLOG about!

Here is the text. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NCV) "Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those Christians who have died so you will not be sad, as others who have no hope. {14} We believe that Jesus died and that he rose again. So, because of him, God will raise with Jesus those who have died. {15} What we tell you now is the Lord's own message. We who are living when the Lord comes again will not go before those who have already died. {16} The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And those who have died believing in Christ will rise first. {17} After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever. {18} So encourage each other with these words."

Please Pray!!!!!!

I am asking you guys who have become such an encouragement to me to spend a little time today in prayer for our daughter Danielle. She is our 15 year old. She is our middle daughter of four children. (The last two were twins).

Danielle has absance (staring spells) seizures. I have blogged about them before. We are at present trying a new homeopathic treatment for them. The doctor said that it might take a while and I know that God is watching over her and one day I believe she will be healed. But today has not been good. She had 3 or 4 seizures this morning before school.

We don't know the reasons--maybe it's because of the big weekend we have just had in Atlanta. She didn't get much rest and that always aggravates matters. It could be that the remedies that the homeopathic doctor gave her is making them worse as the toxins are removed from her body. Whatever the reasons, please pray that they will just stop.

I know that God is awesome and able!
