Sweet Release!!

To "release" is a freedom that is so good. It is hard to understand sometimes that the world does not revolve around us. It doesn't matter what the circumstance. It doesn't matter the reason for pent up frustration or anger. It is sweet freedom to release it to God. 1 Peter tells us that we should cast all of our care on God because He cares for us. What a blessing!

The opposite feeling comes about when we hold on to a grudge or a feeling of hatred. We become sick and depressed. We feel trapped by our own emotions and are ultimately destroyed from the inside out.

It is interesting to me that no matter how we deal with our pain, we never do it alone. If I am happy and full of freedom in Christ, I make others feel the same. Of course, the opposite is true as well. Our feelings are so powerful that they affect others.

What should I learn from this? If my feelings affect others, I need to guard them with all my being. I need to make my words and actions sweet as honey so as to not upset the world around me. I must remember that those who will get hurt are the ones closest to me.

  • This hits close to home with me Keith. My wife is always telling me that I don’t hide my emotions very well.

I could be selfish and make one of those “that’s just the way I am” statements but in light of what you stated, I need to be more careful in light of how my moods can effect others.

  • Keith,

Tell Brandon to keep working. I had a similar situation in H.S. My junior year I was told I wouldn't have the oppertunity to run track at the State Meet because Coach wanted to go with someone who had more experience. It was disappointing because all year I was better than the one who was chosen over me. In the off season I worked harder than ever, and finished my Senior year ranked 8th in the entire state. Had I not been passed over, I wouldn't have cared in the off season, and then I would have had a mediocre Senior year. It always works out for the best.

  • Hi Keith.
I just received a call from Patty at Pepperdine University. She said that she owes you a $30 refund since you'll be rooming with us (myself, Greg, Randy Wray, and Chuck Deyo) in the "Apartments" and they only cost $90 vs. $120 for the "Towers."

Patty said come by "Lecture Central" on the Wednesday of the Lectures and they'll give you a cash refund.

Hey, you could use that extra cash to take all of us out to our favorite litrj restaurant.

  • Thanks Cecil. I look forward to being there. I do not look forward to the flight. I have never done that before. Pray for me. It looks like I will be alone on this flight too. Some of you veterans can give me a few pointers on this. NO BAD STORIES PLEASE.

Greg, We are prying for you guys brother.

  • When we hold on to those things we tend to take it out on the people who are nearby.

  • Keith - We'll be praying for you on your first flight. You might consider a shot of ubcefty to calm your nerves.

You can think of it this way:
The most dangerous part of your trip won't be the flight. It will be the drive down the 405 Freeway from LAX to Greg's Pad.
