Camping Trip!!

As my last blog indicated, we've finally got mom moved. That occurred last week. This week is spring break for my kids. They had what they considered a brilliant idea. "Let's go camping!!" I thought, "What an idea. After moving mom, they want to 'move' to the woods and sleep in a tent with no air conditioning. GREAT!!" Me being the dad I am, ha ha, I said, "Sure, what a great idea!!" Whew! We got back today."

You may be expecting a story about the camping trip from hell, but you won't get that from me. As tired as I was, it was an awesome time. The weather was perfect. The kids had a blast. And we created memories that will last a lifetime.

We saw wildlife (snake!). That's a story to be reserved for a later blog. It was so funny! We had great devo times together. Ellen had all the kids come up with their own devotional thought. They did fantastic. We rode bicycles, played wiffle ball, and even played on the swings like a bunch of grade school kids. Of course there was a camp fire each evening along with smores the last night together.

I was reminded once again, that sometimes things you dread can really turn out to be a blessing. This was a true blessing for me. Thanks to my kids for an absolutely brilliant idea. Thanks to Ellen for putting it all together. And thank God for the greatest kids and wife a guy could ever dream to have in his life.

  • "Things you dread that turn out better than expected" - Meeting Greg's dog Cujo, I mean Chipper as long as you have a pair of cheap sunglasses.

Great post Keith and nice looking family as well. Your post makes me want to go camping.

    Echo Brady's comment:
Thank you God for allowing all of us to marry "up."

  • I don't think the snakes are out of hibernation yet here in Wisconsin. But we did hit the 50s yesterday and what a wonderful thing it was.

How about going camping/fishing on the ice?? That is a big thing here in the land of beer and cheese. Cut and past the following address for pictures of our annual ice fishing/camping outing at Southside. You can click on each picture to get a bigger view. Yes that is a Volkswagen ON the lake!

I too echo the comment about "marrying up." Thank God he gave me better than I deserve.
