Appreciating What You Have
Tonight has been a night of reflection for me. I know I haven't "BLOGGED" in a while, and that is precisely what I have been thinking about. I really like to BLOG. I like writing my thoughts. It's just that lately it seems that so many things get in the way. My life is no different than many of you that will read this. We all stay busy.
Tonight I am reflecting upon what I have in my life that is the most precious. As I came in from music practice, I did my usual rounds hugging and kissing my four precious children goodnight. I really had rather be here when they go to bed so that I can talk to them, but tonight would not allow it. What a thrill it is to hug them when they are sleeping! Sometimes it is funny what they will say to you. As I hugged each one of them, I said to them, "I love you so much." Sometimes they will answer back and other times they will simply turn over. But rest assured, they know that I love them. Thanks God for four wonderful children.
I also kissed my wonderful wife Ellen goodnight as well. When I think about our relationship, it blows my mind. We have known each other for over 22 years and nearly married that long. The day I met her was the most memorable day of my life. I can remember little details about that day when I can barely remember my name sometimes. It really changed my whole life. Little did I know that summer day just how much she would impact my world. Six months from that day, she became my wife. Ellen is my best friend. She is the rock of our family. Lately she has not been feeling well. When she is sick, we really miss her so much.
I think about my church family at Creekside. I can't tell you what a tremendous joy it is to serve Jesus with this group of God's people. They are truly good. I feel so at home and safe in this church. It is a genuine joy to b a part of them. Creekside church is a place where I feel befriended. I feel a warmth that is real. I feel like I can be myself and not worry about holding up this "preacher" image. What a joy and excitement that is. I cannot describe it adequately.
God is good ALL THE TIME and ALL THE TIME, God is good!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry if these ramblings of mine seem pointless to you. They really are not. I am simply doing what that old song suggests, "Count your blessings." I could BLOG for days about my blessings. God has truly been better than I deserve to me. Jesus my Savior promised He would be with us always. He promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to guide us and pray for us. I believe by faith that He has done that in my life. AND I JUST WANT TO PRAISE HIM FOR IT!!!
Please take time today or tonight and list your blessings and learn to appreciate what you have. I know you can find blessing in you life for which to be thankful.
