Mom
My mother--what a lady! For years she has given of herself to so many other people. Her whole life has really been spent in unselfish servanthood toward others.
As a young girl she washed, cleaned, and cooked for all of her family. Her mother worked outside the home so she did it all. She took care of her siblings, ran the milk cow into the barn (despite her fear of snakes), and pretty much ran the farm.
As a young woman she lived in rough times with my dad and stuck by him "for better or worse" and I saw some of the "worse." She stuck by him when many other women would have walked. Because of my moms commitment to him and to God, she tayed together.
When we were just small she taught us about God and made sure we were at every church meeting possible. I never understood much about why she "made" us consentrate on so many "useless" things like that until I had my own children. It is funny how your own children seem to bring into perspective things that I thought were punishments, but were really good for me.
Moms, godly moms that is, are like that. They take seriously verses like Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." They want us to understand that a life lived for God is the only way to live. They want good things for their children. I mean really good things--things that will last like love, joy, and peace.
So on this very special day, mom, enjoy your day in the spotlight. Know that we love you deeply and desire to learn the qualities of life yoiu have tried to instill in us.
Happy Mothers Day
