Prayer Request For Today

Most of you have heard me blog about Danielle. She is our daughter who has Absance Seizures. Today, I have a prayer request concerning her.
At noon today she enters into biology for her nine week's test. She has never, until this semester of school, made a grade less than a "C." Most of the rest of her life she has been on the honor roll. For some reason she has had a semester that has been tough for her. We are hoping that she has had a bad time simply because of the subjects (Geometry and Biology). However, one of our fears has been that the medication she is on would someday adversely affect her school work. She is taking Topamax, a drug that has the potential to slow the thinking processes down.
Here is the prayer request. In order to pass Biology, Danielle must make at least a "C" on her nine week's test today and her final exam the end of this week. We have studied so hard that I feel confident that I could go in and pass this test. (Just a note that Biology was one of my worst subjects in school). She knows the study material front to back. Just pray that she have a "happy recollection" of the things which she has studied. You "C of C" guys will know that prayer by heart!
Thanks for all of you encouraging me as you do!

Praying for the ol' "ready recollection" as both a C of C'er and a math teacher. She'll do fine.

As soon as I read your blog about Danielle I lifted her up in prayer. Now days if I don’t do it right then my “ready recollection” will fail me.
Danielle has 2 teachers (Steve and I) praying for her. That should count for something.
There’s nothing that will pain a parent’s heart more than when their children struggle in school. I thank God for parents like you who will take the time to work with their children.
Greg - I think this is the first time I've been immortalized by the WV.

I too am reading this blog a little late but sent up a prayer anyway. As a new "CoC-er" I'm totally lost on the ready recollection and happy recollection comments. My Methodist background just doesn't compute with such foreign languages! Fill me in!
I pray daily for your whole family and thank God for the blessings that you all are to me and my family.
I'm not leaving my name, but if you don't know who I am at this point, I'll have to throw something at you!!

It's late Tuesday night. Danielle made a "D" on the exam. I know that she knew the material. I personally studied with her. I fear that something is wrong. I am going to the school tomorrow to try and get some help for her. Please continue to pray!!!!!
Yes, annonymous, I know who you are. Ms. Soprano Praise Team Singer. Am I right?

Why yes! You guessed me correctly! I'm sorry to hear about Danielle's grade. Knowing her, I can't help but think that something is wrong. It has to be the medicine she's on. Hopefully the school will work with you. Keep us posted!!

Keith - In Florida a parent can request a "504 Plan" for their child. I don't believe this requires an "IEP" (Individual Education Plan) or Ex-Ed (Exceptional Education) testing. At any rate, a 504 Plan allows such things for a student such as:
1. More time to take tests.
2. Tests read to a student.
3. Modification of the length of a test.
4. Preferential seating in the classroom.
These are just a few of the different kinds of strategies a 504 Plan allows for a student. It may be different in Alabama but I believe the designation “504” comes from a federal law that mandates modifications for students who do not qualify for additional help due to exceptionality. When I get a break today I’ll discuss it with one of our guidance counselors.
I hope this gives you some useful information.
Our prayers are still with Danielle.

Keith - spoke to our Guidance Counselor. 504 plans are in other states beside Florida. We’ve honored them for students who transfer from other states with an existing 504 Plan.
504 plans cover students not covered by Exceptional Education. A 504 plan can be requested by a parent due to illness, injury, or medication effects. Usually a “Child Study Team” is convened when the parent requests a 504 plan.
If a child is given a 504 Plan, that child is not labeled “Ex-Ed.”
Hope this helps.
Keep us informed.
